Poetry and writing have been around for a long time and still remain popular. There are several renowned writer and poet in Uttarakhand that gives us the opportunity to look inside ourselves and communicate intricate concepts in impressive and beautiful ways. To write and craft poetry, one must have both knowledge and skill.

In order to communicate the desired meaning, they must be formed with caution. Through writing, poets can capture their innermost thoughts and feelings and craft unique works of art that can evoke intense emotions and spark creativity.

They can offer an understanding of a multitude of topics, limited only by language. The written word and poetry can motivate readers and unlock unexplored realms of creativity and comprehension.

Poets often take inspiration from their own emotions and experiences, looking for the deeper meaning of life. Poetry gives us the ability to comprehend, make sense of, and explain moments that are hard to put into words.

Uttarakhand is the birthplace of many celebrated writers and poets. Sumitranandan Pant, a 20th century poet and playwright of renown, is one of the most well-known. Dr. Harka Bahadur Prasad Raturi, another author of multiple books about the culture and history of the state. Urmila Raturi is another famous Uttarakhandi writer who has created books on the Legends, culture, and diverse folklore of the state.

Along with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman, the Uttarakhand Ratna is one of the state’s two highest honours for civilians. It is given to someone in recognition of their exceptional contribution to any area of human endeavour. It was established by the Uttarakhand government in 2016. Nine people have received this award in total.

Prasson Joshi, a well-known poet from Uttarakhand who also serves as the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification, was awarded the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments. The Government of Uttarakhand granted this.

Prasoon Joshi has written for movies including Fanna, Bhag Milkha Bhag, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, Black, and Delhi-6, among others.

Uttarakhand is divided into two divisions: Garhwal and Kumaon. Uttarakhand state is made up of 13 districts, seven of which, Dehradun, Haridwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarkashi, and Pauri Garhwal, are a part of the Garhwal division. Almora, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar and Champawat are all part of the Kumaon division.
